Experience the Richness of Aboriginal Storytelling Through Engaging Events

Storytelling is a captivating way to connect with culture, history, and community. An Aboriginal storyteller brings tradition alive, blending art, music, and narrative to create memorable experiences for both children and adults. Yarn Strong Sista takes pride in preserving and sharing this cultural heritage through its creative storytelling sessions and vibrant events.

Our offerings go beyond traditional storytelling, with activities designed to engage, educate, and entertain. From face painting inspired by Indigenous animals to puppet shows that depict everyday adventures, we ensure every session is immersive and meaningful. Led by Annette Sax, a Taungurung woman, their performances celebrate the deep-rooted traditions of Aboriginal culture, offering something for everyone.

Highlights of Yarn Strong Sista’s programs include:

  • Interactive Storytelling: Combine Traditional and Contemporary Stories with music and art.
  • Face Painting: Designs of kangaroos, snakes, and other animals paired with cultural meanings and Indigenous words.
  • Puppetry Performances: “The Possum Hunt” explores bush adventures shared through interactive storytelling and even sign language.
  • Festival Events: Activities at festivals like Moomba involve face painting, traditional games, and art sessions.

By sharing stories in such creative elements, Yarn Strong Sista bridges the gap between generations and communities, fostering a deeper appreciation for Aboriginal heritage. Through our festivals, workshops, and storytelling sessions, they invite people of all ages to engage with and celebrate a living history that’s both profound and fun.
